Ethics and Governance

At Not A Standard we believe ethical responsibility is non-negotiable. We are committed to building and operating systems that prioritise:

  • Survivor-Centred Design - Every decision we make is guided by the needs, safety, and dignity of survivors.

  • Data Sovereignty and Privacy - We aim for the highest standards of data protection, including respecting cultural and jurisdictional data rights, and that’s why we are intentionally limiting the collection of personal or identifying data until we can fully assure oversight and security.

  • Transparency and Responsible Practices - While we are still developing our full governance structures, we separate commercial and non-profit activities and actively review our work for fairness, bias, and risk.

  • Human-First AI - We only develop and deploy AI systems with strong ethical guardrails, human oversight, and clear escalation pathways.

  • Inclusive Voices - We actively seek diverse survivor, expert, and community input to ensure our work remains relevant, respectful, and globally aware.

As we make updates to how we govern Not A Standard, we’ll update our friends and colleagues via our LinkedIn page and mailing list. If this sounds like something you want to be included in, please head to our contact page.

At the end of the day we want to ensure that our kids (and the generation after us) are proud of what we do.
